THE NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY FOR DANCE ARTS
Student membership in the NHSDA is awarded on the basis of points earned for meritorious work in dance that meet the honor society’s general guidelines and when appropriate, on the basis of dance class grade point average. In addition, the prospective member’s demonstration of collaborative teamwork, motivation, and participation in the many aspects of dance (choreography, performance, teaching, production, etc.) is a factor in the determination of eligibility for membership. All students enrolled in an advanced dance elective will receive an Honor Society Handbook that outlines further requirements and specific details.
THE HOLLY SPRINGS HIGH DANCE ENSEMBLE
This is an after school activity designed to provide additional training for the serious-minded dancer. Students involved in this ensemble learn and create choreography for various events throughout the school year and are invited to attend additional field-trips to community performances.
Entrance into the company is based on good class participation and an audition. Students must be enrolled in a dance elective to audition. Auditions are announced at the start of each school year.
Students in the company must be in good academic and discipline standing. Any student who earns a “C” or “D” in any given subject is placed on probation. An “F” results in dismissal from the company. Rehearsals for company are typically held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2:30-4:30pm.
